Still around as fast if you consider wall-clock time (optimized usage of multi-threading compared to version 1), not as memory-efficient (but still around an order of magnitude more memory efficient than other assemblers e.g. Megahit), much improved assembly quality (due to the use of graph simplifications instead of unsimplified graph traversal). We're supposed to release a paper some day about all that, but this is the informal version.

realistically and unfortunately, I don't see a short-read assembly paper being published anymore in this era of long-read assembly. But feel free to be in touch if you need to still perform short-read assembly
