Documentation for GLPI

Hello;
Despite the best will in the world, I think that the documentation concerning the email notification templates is not complete enough or thin enough, especially for the latest version of GLPI. Would it be possible to consider populating a little more and pushing the explanations a little more
Okay i read this below but i don't find a tools or docs dir outside from plugins or lib dir and i can't believe that this is located in lib.
To test Markdown only copyt fr/en/image directories to daux/docs directory provide in tools
In the documentation, we have the current statement :
In case the server hosting the LDAP directory is in a different timezone as GLPI, it is necessary to modify the Timezone variable to account for the difference.
In a lot of cases, it may be not an issue as it falls right but this can raise more questions but when you think about it, it's not that simple.
Use case 1 :
Europe/Paris
.Europe/Paris
timezoneDoes the admin have to configure the LDAP with a timezone or keep GMT ?
As stated in the documentation, we should not change anything
Use case 2 (corner case) :
Europe/Paris
.America/New-York
timezoneDoes the admin have to configure the LDAP with a timezone ? I suppose (GMT-4). But how to handle DST ? Manually ?
Note : this case is obviously exaggerated but in case of a worldwide use with multiple LDAP servers, it is not that stupid
Ask for clarifications :
This may be confusing : users tends to install GLPI without really taking care of this. Also, we do not have a clear understanding of why it is necessary and what are the impacts in case of a wrong configuration. Time management is not a simple thing and a clarification may be usefull.
Also, and i may raise another issue in the main project, we are not talking about the same thing everywhere : in some places we are talking in GMT and offset, in others we are talking about localized timezone (which implies the handling of DST)
Capitalize item types.
There are a lot more types included in 9.5's global search.
See $CFG_GLPI["globalsearch_types"] in inc/define.php

When a validation is requested, the validator is requested to validate the ticket in an interface where the Global approval status comes before the specific request to the user so that the user tend to change the Global approval status instead of his own validation.
Then it is not possible to define different permissions between validate a ticket and doing a global validation.
Another point is the "minimum validation required". really clear how it works but the labels of the dropdown menu is not clear at all for a normal user. I would change to something like "approved if one approves", "approved if majority approves" and "approved if everybody approves".

Move and update documentation from dev docs (http://glpi-developer-documentation.readthedocs.io/en/master/devapi/tools.html#cliupdate-php); see glpi-project/glpi#3209
The old way to simply add core values within glpi_configs is no more functionnal with GLPI 10.
You must now use the php bin/console cache:configure command to enable users data cache, but no instruction are given to enable the translation cache to work with Redis.
Sphinx propose to scale images; but this only have an effect on display (width and height set from inline CSS).
You can display the fullsize image clicking on it; but I guess a JS popup system would be interesting. (See installation wizard pages to get examples).
I propose either:
and field "Pre-select me a requester" in /02_Premiers_pas_avec_GLPI/03_Utiliser_GLPI/04_Gérer_ses_préférences.md
doc/source/modules/administration/rules/inventorytools.rst
"A certain number of criteria are available: those containing generic fields (name, description, serial number, domain, IP address, subnet) but also fields coming from the inventory tool if the tool provides them."
but here is only one criteria - source
this criteria are in fusioninventory rules.
GLPI 9.5.6
FusionInventory 9.5+3.0
Document the features of the new Native Inventory that are included with the core of GLPI.
The documentation about Configure Notifications
and its topics aren't fully translated.
https://glpi-project.org/DOC/EN/glpi/config_notification.html
Many users will just copy/paste the glpi directory in their document root.
This is not a good idea on production servers; GLPI provide a way to move config and files directories. This must be documented on the installl stage as a good practice.
Hi there. I've noticed there are many .md
files left in the source/
directory.
Would it help if I convert those file to .rst
? I plan to use pandoc for this task, and some proofreading would certainly be needed.
Let me know, thanks!
Please update requirements
By default, font files from TCPDF will be loaded in the opcache... Causing oom restart quite often.
This happens mainly under some circumstances, but a word about that in the install docs may be usefull.
Just a word for 9.2 about glpi-project/glpi#1727
Add a warning to alert user that new notifications are always actives by default
The documentation available on RTD has no valid links. As an example, see this page: http://glpi-user-documentation.readthedocs.io/fr/latest/modules/configuration/05_Sla/01_Sla.html?highlight=sla
Hi all.
On the webpage: https://glpi-user-documentation.readthedocs.io/fr/latest/first-steps/access-glpi.html the link corresponding to the fallowing text "the user administration documentation" redirects to a "Page not found".
I need the documentation on Management - Databases section (https://github.com/glpi-project/glpi/blob/10.0/bugfixes/front/database.php) and how the relationship with others assets works, but this module is missing in the section: https://github.com/glpi-project/doc/tree/master/source/modules/management
There are a Asset type called "Passive Devices" that seems to be called Passive DCE Equipment in the code.
But there is no documentation on how to use it.
The PR glpi-project/glpi#7118 mentions that it would solve issues with patch panels in racks.
Sure, I can add a passive device as a patch panel in a rack and even create sockets on it. But I don't know how to connect other equipment to those sockets.
Some documentation would be nice. And if I could figure out how it worked I would have been able to contribute to the documentation but I'm kind of lost.
Assuming this is the repository for the current GLPI documentation, would you mind if I contribute as my time allows?
If so are there any considerations I should have beside branching and submitting merge requests?
