[Anki 23.10 beta 6] No module named 'PyQt5'

Problem description

The Qt5 compatibility code is now off by default, which may break some add-ons that haven't been updated to support Qt6 in the last 2 years. If you find any have broken, please report the issues to the add-on author, and start Anki after setting the env var ENABLE_QT5_COMPAT to 1 to temporarily restore the compatibility code.

I've tried to disable other add-ons to see if there are any interactions present
My issue disappears when I hold shift while starting Anki.
I've checked if anyone else reported this problem before by looking through the issue reports. I also checked to see if there is a section about known issues in the add-on description, documentation, or README.

Problem case

I use Batch Edit with Keyboard Maestro. Part of the automation would be if I could preset the 'in this field' (i.e. the default field) to a field I personally use called NB. Also, I would also greatly benefit if I could set the default button to "add before."

Solution

My solution would be to allow users to set up a default field (in my case NB) with a. fallback to whatever you prefer in case that field is not present. Same thing with the buttons.

I am looking to make two edits to the code 1) make "replace" is the only option for edits, and 2) have this only apply to a specified field. Right now my basic cards have three fields: "front", "back", and "notes". I would like to only have the ability to replace the "notes". I am a novice, and tried editing the code myself with no success. Screenshot of the add on box with buttons that I would like to be disabled/removed are circled in red.

[Batch Note Editing] Idea for new feature

I was thinking it would be nice if you could add a function to use your [batch note editing] add-on to also format text.

I have a bunch of cards and I want to change the color in a certain text field to be blue on some cards and red on others.

Your help is appreciated. The add-on is awesome!!

I want to copy my text in filed A and paste it in filed B.
because by so doing I can generate a cloze from the vocabulary list which is already exist in anki. that is to say:

then
copy from field of vocabulary to field of cloze, it becomes:
field of vocabulary: thanks
field of cloze: thanks
then
then I will just use the function already exiting to add "{{c1::" before that and "}}" after it

Incorrect replacement of encoded images.

Problem description

Addons seems to not handle encoded images properly. When I tried to replace a fields contents with <img src="paste-85104776970243%20%281%29.jpg">, it was pasted as <img src="paste-85104776970243%2520%25281%2529.jpg">. Decoding the image ( <img src="paste-85104776970243 (1).jpg">) and then replacing worked fine.

Paperclip icon missing to indicate image attachment

Running Anki 2.1.64 Qt6, tested with no other add-ons as well. On MacOS 13.4 (newest OS).

The paperclip icon to indicate that images need to be attached is missing as seen below. This issue still persists on nightmode.

I almost never have the need for new line when I prepend or append text. Which means I've to manually edit your addon code to ensure the newline is not added. I'd love if you could have an option, potentially in the file config if there is no room in the UI, to disable the new line.

Images change from jpg to png after batch-editing

When I use batch-editing to add images to a number of cards it turns the file from "jpg" to "png", thus increasing the file size. In my Anki preferences the "Paste clipboard images as PNG" is unchecked. I didn't find another addon that I have that may conflict or cause this.
This however can be circumvented by placing the HTML of the image. My current Anki Version ⁨2.1.49

Idea for new feature

I don't know if it would be possible, but it would be very helpful to have a batch editing feature that would edit tags on cards. I always start making cards on a new topic, and then forget to change the tag, and then I have to go back and edit all of them individually.

Ability to choose multiple images simultaneously

#### Problem case

I have a folder with 20-30 images and currently the "Batch-editing" add-on only allows to "choose" one image at a time.

#### Solution

Would it be possible to allow choosing multiple images simultaneously ?

This feature would be useful for obtaining a class in Powerpoint/PDF > Export to Image > Choose all the images in a folder. In this way, it would be time-efficient to add Lecture's slides to Anki.

Alternatively, would it be possible to allow "Drag and drop" feature with multiple images to the Add-on?

Batch note editing. Anki 2.1.9.

I can't seem to use the paste from clipboard feature on 2.1. I get this error:

Ability to control whitespace handling when appending data to fields

There are use cases where the defaults of adding a newline between new and old content in regular mode, or adding a space in the same position in HTML mode, are not desirable (see this report for instance). To cover those use cases, a toggle to not include any separating whitespace could be useful.

Problem case

Many Anki users (including myself) need to change the order in which cards are listed by creation date, either to group them thematically within a deck or to control the order in which they are printed using Add-ons such as your wonderful PDF Glossary Exporter.
To change the order in which cards are listed by creation date one can simply add a sequential number to the cards in its own field (i.e. first card has number 1, second card has number 2, etc.), sort by this number field and then change the numbers (e.g. if card number 4 should be placed after number 2, change number 4 into 2.1, etc.) to bring the cards into the correct order. Finally the Change Card Creation times add-on by Daniel Elmes can be applied to the cards in their new order https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/217650262, which effectively changes the order in which cards are listed when sorted by creation date.
The Problem is that entering the number sequence into the fields is laborious if done by hand, and could be done much more quickly if automated.

Solution

The solution is to add an additional function to your add-on, that inserts a progressive number sequence across the cards of a deck into a particular field. It already has the function to clear those numbers when the reordering is done, by simply replacing the content of fields with empty.

2.1.45 Beta 5 won't work

Get this error when I try to replace text with nothing. I disabled all other add ons and issue still persisted,

Regex support will allow to remove/replace only specific strings and add strings anywhere within the fields. In my case, it will delete the need for exporting, editing and reimporting the cards.

How can we reproduce the problem?

Image capture to clipboard using either snipping tool or onenote screen clipping or copy image directly from other source and then click attach button on batch edit interface.

Expected behavior: Insert clipboard image to batch edit "content to add or replace with"

Actual behavior: Error message above.

Reproducible?: Yes, restarts of anki and pc, enable/disable/reinstall addon, multiple clipboard attempts
