I have a very similar boilerplate for DevTools Panel to web page messaging. Chrome DevTools Extension Panel sample. It’s a bit more complicated since it initializes content-script lazily – on a first interaction in the DevTools panel (e.g. first click "Turn editing on").

NV/setInterval-sniffer is an example of two-way message passing (DevTools Panel <--> web page), uses lazy content-script initialization too.

Would be awesome to be able to use these as templates for a new project, like the Yeoman boilerplates:

$ devtools-extension panel "My Great Extension"
