basics

πŸš€ Project Structure

Inside of your Astro project, you'll see the following folders and files:

/
β”œβ”€β”€ public/
β”‚ └── favicon.svg
β”œβ”€β”€ src/
β”‚ β”œβ”€β”€ components/
β”‚ β”‚ └── Card.astro

β”‚ β”‚ └── Layout.astro
β”‚ └── pages/
β”‚ └── index.astro
└── package.json

Astro looks for .astro or .md files in the src/pages/ directory. Each page is exposed as a route based on its file name.

There's nothing special about src/components/, but that's where we like to put any Astro/React/Vue/Svelte/Preact components.

Any static assets, like images, can be placed in the public/ directory.

🧞 Commands

All commands are run from the root of the project, from a terminal:

Command Action
npm install Installs dependencies
npm run dev Starts local dev server at localhost:3000
npm run build Build your production site to ./dist/
npm run preview Preview your build locally, before deploying
npm run astro ... Run CLI commands like astro add, astro preview
npm run astro --help Get help using the Astro CLI

decarbonize-software-event's Issues

Decarb Washup meeting

Technical issues

  • Break slides didn't trigger - do video in future
  • Audio issue on CODE session. Speaker was up too loud on presenter side. Insist on rehearsal + headphones in future. ALSO Possible presenter central muting from production side in future
  • Presentation/Screenshare issue on CODE session (mixup?) need more strictly defined in ROS in future + rehearsal ALSO avoid web browser version of Teams in future or get other solution
  • Video not loaded in for Champions session, playback issues (video delivered late) break up into smaller chunks deliver video early rehearse mark in ROS
  • Presentation issue (visibility) for Carbon Aware SDK session (not sure what happened) rehearsals slides arriving earlier clearly advise presenters where they should be looking

Create 90 second video per SC member

We will create a video with each Steering Committee Member. 60 seconds ideally, 90 seconds max per video.

Each would be asked a question & introduce their organisation. The video will be shown at Decarbonize Software.

Target Date: 30th October 2023

Description: Pre-recorded videos from each Steering Committee member of around 60 seconds answering a predetermined question about Decarbonizing Software. This is important to showcase the leadership and expertise of the GSF and to provide insights and perspectives on the event’s theme and objectives.

Definition of Done (DoD): Nine videos are received from the Steering Committee members, each lasting for around 60 seconds.

KPI:

The number of videos received divided by the number of Steering Committee members. The target is 9 out of 11 (82%).

The number of views, likes, comments, and shares generated by the videos. The target is at least 1,000.

Nurture Campaign for Decarb 2023

[Recreated issue] Copy updates for Decarb

Copying issue over from https://github.com/Green-Software-Foundation/gsf-admin/issues/292 as private issues can't be transferred.

What: The Decarbonize Software Landing Page to build interest and a bank of subscribers to boost registration needs more text.
Why: This is the Foundation's flagship event to celebrate progress made, recognize opportunities for improved collaboration, partnership, transparency and tooling, and announce new resources to advance the practice of green software.
How: The webcopy for the landing page will be informational, inspiring and evoke a sense of possibility.

Decarbonize Software 2023
Redefining the future of software

Decarbonize Software takes place on 16th November 2023. This digital event is your all-access pass to see the impressive strides taken in making software more environmentally friendly and climate-conscious. It's an open invitation for both seasoned sustainability advocates and those new to the cause, all poised to make a real impact as climate champions in tech. Decarbonize Software is open to all and features the voices of our community, as well as the latest updates from the Green Software Foundation.

Unveiling Our Vision

With COP28 kicking off on 30th November in Dubai, we wanted to highlight projects which are driving momentum towards a low-emission and climate-resilient world. At COP28, global leaders will discuss how to reduce global Green House Gas emissions by 43% by 2030. In sync with this ambitious goal, Decarbonize Software is our platform to position software at the forefront of climate action.

On 16th November, the Green Software Foundation will bring software practitioners across the globe together to highlight big wins and to see what's possible in the future. This event will also mark the launch of new tools and resources by the Foundation to support individual contributors across industry and academia, propelling an even more significant reduction in software's carbon footprint.

Reserve Your Spot

I want to create a LinkedIn Carousel to capture some key messages from the GSF Decarb Summary Article.
Can you help with coming up with a nice design to go from one slide to the next, in a way that shows continuity?

I'm aiming for 5-8 pages max. The last page should ask people to watch the event on-demand (grnsft.org/decarb) or subscribe to our newsletter.

Thanks!
