Your implementation meets the basic requirements and that's enogh for us.

We like that you wrapped a highlight logic into a pipe, your code is clean and readable.

I googled for these patterns

Each of us does it ;)

However, that approach gave me issues when updating the inner HTML value with the Highlight pipe

We know about this issue. It can be solved, but it takes more time, therefore we don't add such requirements.
