hamcrest.github.com's Issues

Rename project to avoid offending

I'd like to suggest renaming the project and removing the ham/surfer image to avoid offending allies of animals (human and non-human). Those offended may argue that the concept of ham is speciesist: it supposes that individuals who are pigs may be rightly killed (murdered) for food to serve those individuals who are humans, with no legitimate reasons, seemingly leaving us with the logic "because they are pigs". Making the argument about the species, rather than any specific traits that pigs have that would make their lives so much less valuable, is what makes it speciesist. Not having given it much thought, the general audience reading this may think of many such reasons on first consideration, but these reasons I'd argue are dubious, and therefore still speciesist.

Feel free to close if you disagree strongly; just figured someone has to be the first to bring this up since it's 2021 - a lot of new developments have been made in the animal rights community since this project started 9 years ago and the percent of people avoiding animal exploitation and believing that non-humans should have the same rights as humans is steadily on the rise.

Hamcrest domain ownership / contact info

Hey, folks; PyHamcrest maintainer here.

Looking at hamcrest.org today, we are not getting SSL configured properly and that appears to stem from the A records for hamcrest.org being misconfigured. I see a bunch of issues in here regarding this, and no sense of who owns the domain name for hamcrest.org.

Can the person who has control over it please speak up? If administering it is a hassle, I'm also happy to take ownership of it and manage this, if you want.

https://hamcrest.org has a cert mismatch

https://hamcrest.org has a cert mismatch, not certain that this is fixable with github...

if not, I've recently migrated my site to vercel because it's free and supports certs for the root of the domain. Not trying to sell vercel just that the root of the domain should work (or redirect).
