LangTutor

This is a fun little app that I made to play around with the OpenAI API. It helps users build fluency by offering a language partner that will correct them on grammar and keep up a conversation.

Instructions

Ensure you provide a .env file that populates the variables required by the site.

Run the commands listed in build.sh

• pip install -r requirements.txt
• python3.9 manage.py collectstatic --noinput
• python3.9 manage.py makemigrations
• python3.9 manage.py migrate
• python3.9 manage.py createsuperuser --noinput || true

Add Home Page

Add a home page explaining the purpose of the app.

Refine Prompt Engineering

Follow MS guide to prompt engineering to improve the language tutor's feedback.

Dialogue History Storage

Store dialogue history in a database, so that the history can be fed into the API requests.

Paying Users

Add view to register users as paying. Paying users can make API requests and regular users can't.

Add Users

Create a user database.

Create a login and registration page.

Change chat requests to Ajax

Currently, there is a simple HTML form being passed to a Django view. This creates reloading for chatting. Replace this with Ajax to make the language tutor experience more engaging.
