adding a vfx would make hits with the pistol more obvious, and also be more satisfying.

a vfx along the lines of teleport's might work. there might also be a more appropriate vfx to model, like something space-time-vortex-related.

the pistol's effect should be considered reality-distortion-based, and thus not function while under the effects of normality.
