It is a need expressed by WGBIFS, and there is a clear relevance for the addition of the field (as discussed in WGDG 2021-2).

IBTSWG are concerned that some publications show data with incorrect analysis or asumptions, they would like further disclaimer on proper data usage of the kind:

Data users should consider the temporal changes in survey design (link to manual).

Data users not involved in primary data collection are encouraged to communicate and collaborate with relevant institutes to aid in the interpretation of data and outputs.

Before the individuals surveys format description of mandatory fields, there will be a landing page with a simple yet clear description of the format and a downloadable spread sheet with all fields descriptions, with links to vocasb, plus a test file with the correct headers

CPUE is not calculated -or ends up in -9 because there is no HlNoatLngt available for all specvals other than 1

if a specval allows use in DATRAS products, then:
• Where HlNoatLngt is not -9 HlNoatLngth should be used to calculate CPUE (per km2 and/or per hour)
• Where HlNoatLngt is -9 (and LngtClass=-9) Nomeas should be used and follow the same steps as Hlnoatlngt (i.e. multiplying with the subfactor, and calculate CPUE)

In ACOUSTIC governance we are reviewing the biotic format to make sure is fit for purpose. This code is a bit confusing and as it comes directly from DATRAS it would be good to give them feed back on the use of it, and in case, if descriptions can be improved for clarity.

Suggestion to improve user experience when downloading data and data products. We could take the chance to review some namings (Flexfile, CPUE per length per hour and swept area).

In response to WGBIFS recommendation 62-2021:

WGBIFS recommends that ICES Data Centre will provide WGBIFS with the indices for the assessment of cod and flatfish stocks, which are based on the data from BITS surveys, immediately after their calculation in DATRAS.
This would allow WGBIFS to perform a verification of the indices to detect potential irregularities before we are confronted with the demand of an explanation and justification of the indices for the WGBFAS.

Datras team is developping a facility by which:

• Resubmissions causing changes in exchange data for certain species per survey will be identified.
• This will create a change report available from DATRAS web
• Interested experts can get subscribed to notifications for changes in data for certain species/survey

This comes from RDBES core group. They need several new codes and RMG suggests to merge the codes used in Acoustic and Datras and create a single vocab

As I understood from WGBEAM a new field in CA should be required to define the status of the specimen in the moment of sampling.

Problem definition and requirements
Within the fish surveys there is a shift towards collecting more information on parasites and diseases. Examples are registration of liver infections requested by WGBIFS (recommendation 2021-61) and registration of parasites and abnormal growth in haddock during IBTS. Currently, individual fish data can be stored, but there is no possibility to add information on diseases/parasites to it. Only the fact if parasites have been sampled can be filled in in DATRAS (ParSamp).

The main requirements are:
• direct linkage to the individual fish in DATRAS CA
• possibility to link multiple diseases/parasite types to one fish

Required to allow BTS, SNS and DYFS to submit per areas and not only per statrec and get that same information in the download.
