Sometimes it can happen that an existing commit is being amended.
and amending a commit can be done without code modifcation - if you just want to modify the commit msg.

so aborting a change if no changes is not a good think.
NO CHANGES ADDED, ABORT COMMIT!

Can you confirm that that this script removes trailing whitespace from all lines in the file, not just the ones you changed.

I'd suggest that only changed lines should get trailing whitespace removed to avoid extra noise in pull requests.

Regardless of which way it is, we could indicate this in the README.md.

Hi,

I was wondering what happen when you commit only some chunk of a file. (Maybe you want the remaining chunk to be added in another commit later on).

The git add at the end of the script will add the complete file. Rhe whitespace modification and also the chunks that were left for the "next" commit.
