Chat Application

A one to one client-server chatting application from the terminal. Implemented using Socket and ServerSocket classes.

What are Sockets?

From oracle documentation: A socket is one endpoint of a two-way communication link between two programs running on the network. A socket is bound to a port number so that the TCP layer can identify the application that data is destined to be sent to.

How to use?

To start the application, follow these steps:

1. Clone

cd desired-directory
git clone https://github.com/insp7/chatApplication.git

2. Compile

Compile Server.java and Client.java

cd chatApplication
javac src/Server.java
javac src/Client.java

3. Execute

Execute the .class files generated. It is important to execute the Server first

java src/Server
java src/Client
