analytics-ruby is a ruby client for Segment

Install

Into Gemfile from rubygems.org:

gem 'analytics-ruby', require: "segment"

Into environment gems from rubygems.org:

gem install 'analytics-ruby'

Usage

Create an instance of the Analytics object:

analytics = Segment::Analytics.new(write_key: 'YOUR_WRITE_KEY', host: 'YOUR_API_HOST')

Identify the user for the people section, see more here.

analytics.identify(user_id: 42,
                   traits: {
                     email: '[email protected]',
                     first_name: 'Foo',
                     last_name: 'Bar'
                   })

Alias an user, see more here.

analytics.alias(user_id: 41)

Track a user event, see more here.

analytics.track(user_id: 42, event: 'Created Account')

Testing

You can use the stub option to Segment::Analytics.new to cause all requests to be stubbed, making it easier to test with this library.
