Microsoft Azure Health Data Services Workshop

Introduction

Hello and welcome to the Azure Health Data Services Workshop! In this workshop, we present a series of hands-on activities to help you gain new skills working with Microsoft Health and Life Sciences (HLS) products and services.

Who is the Azure Health Data Services Workshop for?

This workshop is intended for healthcare system integrators, independent healthcare software vendors, and other healthcare IT professionals. Before beginning the workshop challenges, check the knowledge prerequisites listed below. If you need to brush up in any of these areas, there are resources at the bottom of Challenge-00 to help you get started. The general expectation is that learners will come to this workshop with the following:

  • A solid foundation in Microsoft Azure and Azure Active Directory
  • Some basic knowledge of healthcare data, especially FHIR
  • Familiarity working with RESTful API requests and responses

What topics are covered?

  • In the first part of the workshop (Challenges 00-04), you'll get direct experience deploying, configuring, and using components for FHIR data operations in Azure Health Data Services.

    • Challenge-00 - Check Prerequisites and Configure Environment
    • Challenge-01 - Deploy Azure Health Data Services workspace and FHIR service
    • Challenge-02 - Convert HL7v2 and C-CDA to FHIR
    • Challenge-03 - Ingest to FHIR
    • Challenge-04 - Query and Search FHIR
  • In the second part of the workshop (Challenges 05-10), you'll get exposure to the DICOM and MedTech services in Azure Health Data Services. You will also work with exporting FHIR data for analytics, and you will set up a user-facing application to connect with the FHIR service.

    • Challenge-05 - Export and Anonymize Data
    • Challenge-07 - Consent capabilities of the FHIR service
    • Challenge-08 - DICOM service
    • Challenge-09 - MedTech service
    • Challenge-10 - FhirBlaze (Blazor app dev + FHIR)

Where to start?

Go to Challenge-00 and read the instructions to begin the workshop! When you are finished with a challenge, then move on to the next (Challenge-00, Challenge-01, etc.). The challenge topics build on each other, and you will get the most out of the workshop if you do the challenges in order.
