Visitors use this application to sign up for a mailing list for the Rails Composer product.
The application is running on Heroku at mailinglist.railscomposer.com.
Visitors can submit a form to add their email address to the Rails Composer mailing list.
The Rails Composer mailing list is hosted on MailChimp. The mailing list is used for occasional announcements from the RailsApps project.
This application connects to MailChimp’s API using the Gibbon gem.
The application uses the Active Job gem and the SuckerPunch gem for job queueing so the user experiences no delays when submitting the form or using the API.
Rails Composer is a tool that generates Rails starter applications. When developers use Rails Composer, they are invited to join the mailing list:

Rails Composer connects to the mailinglist.railscomposer.com application via an API.
The application responds to API requests:
$ curl http://mailinglist.railscomposer.com/api -d'visitor[email][email protected]'
This is the interface that Rails Composer uses to add users to the mailing list.
Email addresses are added to the MailChimp mailing list and are not used for anything else. No email addresses are stored in the application database.
