A Hebrew Rashi-Style Typeface

Mekorot

A Hebrew/Latin typeface in the Rashi style. Originally this project was part of an attempt to create a free version of the Hebrew Talmud, as PDF files, while keeping the original page's shape (known as 'Tzurat Hadaf'). This repository has been adapted from a previous Sourceforge archive, based on the original work by Dr. Alan Hoenig here.

In 2021 this project was re-engineered by Eli Heuer for inclusion in the Google Fonts catalog.

פרוייקט מקורות נוסד במקור כדי ליצור כלי שיוכל להציג דפי גמרא (למשל), בתור טקסט, אך תוך שמירה על 'צורת הדף'.

ברבות הימים, הסתבר לי שאין שום צורך בכלי שכזה. היכולת הזו קיימת כבר בפורמטים רבים, וצריך רק לנצל אותה.

פרוייקט מקורות שינה, אם כן, את ייעודו. במקום להתמקד ביצירת פורמט חדש וכל מה שקשור אליו, המטרה היא ליצור בפועל , תצוגה של הש"ס, ובעתיד אולי גם דברים אחרים, בצורה שתשמר את צורתו המקורית.
