rviews-community's Introduction

Welcome to R Views Community!

R Views is the RStudio blog devoted to the R community and the R language.

R Views is a place to:

  • Read considered opinions about topics of interest to the R Community
  • See what is happening at conferences and user group meetings around the world
  • Learn about new R packages
  • Explore how R users apply R in various areas of statistics or data science
  • Understand how RStudio tools can contribute to enhancing your R experience.

Contribute to R Views

We hope that R Views will attract other voices from around the R Community, including yourself! We're always looking for high-quality, original work to demonstrate the power of R.

If you would like to contribute R-related topics, news, commentary, or examples, please follow this process for entering a post for consideration.

  • If you’re comfortable with Github and R Markdown, read our contributing guide to submit a post for consideration.
  • If you’d like us to handle Github/R Markdown, file an issue with your post or idea.

Process for Contributing

  • Submit a post/idea: Start the process either via a pull request or an issue.
  • Preliminary review: Within two weeks, the R Views editors will review your submission and let you know the next steps.
    • We may let you know that the post is ready almost as-in, provide feedback for revisions to post on R Views, or recommend another avenue for your post if R Views is not the right one.
  • Revisions: We work together to make revisions on the post.
    • We will make these revisions on the Github pull request.
  • Finalization: We both confirm that the post is finalized and coordinate a timeline for release.
  • Publication: We release the post based on the timeline and coordinate social media efforts to publicize the post.

Need ideas?

Would you like to contribute but not sure what about? We’re happy to give ideas!

  • Did you write a research paper? Write a short-form blog post showcasing your analysis and results.
  • Do have a favorite R package? Elaborate on it in a walkthrough.
  • Are you writing a book on R? Share a short version of what your book dives into.
