We started an app-less database from postgres.heroku.com, and then assigned that database's url to each app's DATABASE_URL. I imagine this is why jackdb is stating:

Hassans-MacBook-Pro:odp_planner hassan$ heroku jackdb
 !    Your app has no databases.

Even though, running the following shows that there is a DATABASE_URL defined for this app:

Is the problem basically that the app has to have the db as a created addon, and not just a DATABASE_URL implemented?
