My personal config files for various command line utilities. This repo also doubles as a quick set up for a new system.

Installing

1. Clone the repo and move all of its files into your home directory git clone https://github.com/jake-bickle/.dotfiles.git then cp .dotfiles/* ~/ NOTE: If you're running any MAC OS, clone the mac_12.13.x branch instead
2. Install Vundle to utilize the various vim plugins with git clone https://github.com/VundleVim/Vundle.vim.git ~/.vim/bundle/Vundle.vim
3. Open vim, enter :PluginInstall and wait for all of the plugins to install.

If you're running any MAC OS, it is recommended to install Homebrew, a package repository. ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"

Notable VIM Keybinds

• jj or JJ to exit insert mode
• m scrolls page down, , scrolls page up
• -n toggles nerdtree
• gt goes forward tabs, while tg goes back
• _ to go to beginning of line, + to go to end of line
• -ev opens up .vimrc for quickly creating new keybinds. Save them, then -sv to update your vim session with the new keybinds.
• -c (-c + space) toggles comment on selected line(s).
• ctrl + s to save (for anyone hoping over from other editors out there!)

tmux Keybinds

All of the tmux keybinds are the same EXCEPT

• ctrl + a is the home key. Use this to initiate any key bind for tmux.
• - causes a vertical split
• \ causes a horizontal split
