discord-notify-bot's Issues

Discord.py ssl.SSLCertVerificationError: [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED]

This SSL error occurs when running the discord.py bot on macOS.

Expected Behavior

The bot should start running when bot.py is executed with the correct configuration values.

Current Behavior

By default, on macOS with Python 3.12, bot.py throws discord.py ssl.SSLCertVerificationError: [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED].

Possible Solution

Download certificates for macOS with ./Install\ Certificates.command.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Clone the repo.
  2. Create a virtual environment, activate it, and install the requirements.
  3. Update config.ini with the correct values.
  4. Run bot.py.

Context (Environment)

This seems to only happen on macOS.
