On November 9, 2016, 17 NJAM reporters went to every county election board in New Jersey and got the unofficial presidential election results for every municipality in the state.
Using this data, the NJAM data team made several maps showing town-by-town map results and analysis for NJ.com and The Star-Ledger:
- See how your town voted in the 2016 presidential election
- The 53 N.J. towns that flipped from Obama to Trump
- The N.J. towns with the most Gary Johnson and Jill Stein votes
- Trump's election ripped this N.J. county in half
You can use this data for your own analysis. Contact me or Erin Petenko if you have any questions. Also, let us know what interesting trends you end up finding and what you end up making.
Note: These results were gathered the day after the election, and in many counties, provisional and mail-in ballots had still not been gathered. It's important to remember that these results could change from when the official results are posted in a couple of months.
The municipality codes, legislative and congressional district designations are from the Rutgers Data Book.
