Apparently you have to manually add std
to the Xargo.toml
(it is never specified how to do this, but I figured it out):
[dependencies.core]
stage = 0
[dependencies.compiler_builtins]
stage = 1
version = '=0.1.47'
[dependencies.std]
stage = 2
Also note that the version of compiler_builtins
is not stable and you will have to substitute the version for the latest one! The issue comment I linked said 0.1.3
but that's way out of date now.

Seems like you figured it out, great. :)
The example does explicitly have std
in Xargo.toml
. PRs for better docs are always welcome. :D

Xargo is always a mystery, now I'm running into issues where I can't depend on anything because:
Compiling num-traits v0.2.14
error[E0464]: multiple matching crates for `core`
|
= note: candidates:
error: could not compile `num-traits` due to previous error
but I don't really care anyway because this was just a test to see how small I could make a Rust binary. (The answer is actually around 12k, which is smaller than an equivalent C++ program!!)
