Fitness goals

I have a hate-hate relationship with Gym and I eat all junk that comes my way. But I also want to get in shape.

I won't be able to spend time at gym with #11 , however, I can spare some time for in-house exercises, and also get some dumbbells at home.

Goals here:

• 100 pushups in 3 sets by end of year (I can do 15 now)
• Visible muscle gain (Don't have a clear target here)

Make enough money to not need a job after age 31

Programming Languages to learn

So, primarily I have been writing Java professionally, and Javascript personally. Some languages that I am interested in:

• Go
  I personally find Go boring and bland. However, a lot of companies I like seem to work with it and it's behind a lot of big open source projects (Docker/k8s). If the language allows me to write maintainable code that I am not afraid to refractor after an year (something you can't do with JS), I'll take it over a more expressive language.

• Kotlin
  Since I primarily with JVM at work, Kotlin seems like of the better languages out there. Lets you use the Java libraries fairly seamlessly, and has most of the features of a 'modern' programming language, something which Go lacks by choice.

• Clojure
  Why? Functional, immutable data structures, great concurrency support. But it's a lisp, and widely different from any language I have worked with, which is also why I keep coming back to it from time to time.

• Python
  For the ML stuff I want to explore.

Personally, I think Clojure is the only language here that requires you to "learn" it. All others have a small learning curve.

Also, I am not big on learning for the sake of learning, so while I can see clear use for Kotlin, Python, and Clojure makes sense from an 'exploring new territories' standpoint. I don't see where I'll fit Go in all this.

Deep Learning

Related to #8. While I can't justify the cost of doing an MS at this point, I'd still like to get started with deep learning. I don't really get all the hard math, however, I think that's not really necessary to get started with it.

Why? Because of all the talk of AI taking over the world.

Concrete goals here:

• Read https://www.manning.com/books/grokking-deep-learning (the book is very expensive though)

Stand up comedy

Perform at at least 2 open mics.

Why 2? Because one may go horribly bad because first time, or may go surprisingly well because beginner's luck. Try atleast twice.

It's nice to build apps, websites.
But it'd be nicer to build technologies enabling the next gen homes, cars, AI etc, technologies that'll enable to the future.
