I tried an experiment with this mp3 on the demo video player to see if it works for mp3

I'm not sure what is happening because the error i'm getting is ambiguous:
"the video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed, or because the format is not supported. "

This error appears before the progress bar is even half complete, so i don't know if this error message is a default, if the player can detect the wrong format before fully loading, or if it gave up because the file transfer took too long.

eliminating possibilities would be to know for sure that the player can play mp3. If this is the case, is there another method to post a url that will play in the browser's default audio player? my doubt is that the hash does not reveal to the client that it is .mp3 by filename...

In your deafult readme, you should udpate the "TODO" near the end to point to the pinning example. And you should also add "By jbenet" at the end.
