jasmine-pit's Introduction

jasmine-pit

Writing tests for promises in jasmine is kind of a pain in the ass. jasmine-pit makes doing such things a tiny bit easier by providing an augmented version of it() (called pit()) that allows you to simply return a promise that may eventually assert expect()s (or propogate errors).

Example

jasminePit.install(window);

describe('MyTestSuite', functtion() {
  pit('Spec 1', function() {
    return funcThatReturnsPromise().then(function(stuff) {
      expect(stuff).toBe(stuff_i_expect_it_to_be);
    });
  });
});

This will execute the promise chain and, if any errors occur along the way, they will be propogated up to jasmine and reported as normal.

Don't be afraid to take a look at the source. The definition for pit() is stupid simple.

jasmine-pit's Issues

currentSpec not available

Am I right in thinking that in recent versions of Jasmine, jasmineEnv no longer provides a currentSpec? I can't get jasmine-pit working with jasmine-standalone 2.2.0 as spec remains undefined in runPitTest.

ppit is not defined

In Jasmine the "iit" function causes jasmine to run that single test in the spec. It would be nice to have the equivalent "ppit".

discrepancy between GitHub tag v2.0.1 and npm installed version v2.0.1

jest-cli installed jasmine-pit v2.0.1 for me, but I got the following error upon trying to run my tests with jest:

declare class jasmineIt {
        ^^^^^
Failed with unexpected error.
SyntaxError: Unexpected reserved word

Started investigating, and noticed that the index.js installed from npm via jasmine-pit v2.0.1 does not match the code under the v2.0.1 tag on GitHub here.

Reverted to jasmine-pit v2.0.0 in jest-cli's package.json and am able to run tests with jest.
