Hey JJJ

I think you're doing it right. Making it customizable could lead to different pattern, so if I can't use my pattern to proof that a content is mine because my salt have changed, the whole process of this plugin is useless.
The only thing in a website that will never change ("never") is the domain name. Any other (even FILE) can change with time.
I really think you should keep it like that. 👍
