Variables

Em rust, variáveis são naturalmente imutáveis. podemos mudar isso.

fn variables_example(){
    let x = 5;
    println!("The value of x is: {x}");
    x = 6;
    println!("The value of x is: {x}");
}

Pra isso funcionar, basta declarar essa variável como mutável:

fn variables_example(){
    let mut x = 5;
    println!("The value of x is: {x}");
    x = 6;
    println!("The value of x is: {x}");
}

Constants

São bem parecidas com a let, porém ela realmente não podem ser mutáveis. A gente cria uma variavel constante usando a palavra const. Essas belezinhas podem ser declaradas até em escope global. Além disso, uma constante tem que ter um valor constante, não pode ser o retorno de alguma função ou algo do tipo, por exemplo:

// ERRADO
const EXAMPLE = fn();
// CERTO
const EXAMPLE = 123;

| Dica: O nome das constantes é sempre em CAPS_LOCK.

Shadowing

É closure do javascript com as especificidades do rust.

fn shadowing(){
    let x = 5;
    let x = x + 1;

    {
        let x = x*2;
        println!("The value of x in the inner scope is: {x}");
    }

    println!("The value ox x is: {x}");
}

O legall é que dentro do shadowing, quando recriamos uma variável com let, a gente realmente cria uma nova variável. Isso significa que podemos alterar o tipo, olha só:

fn shadowing(){
    let x = "   ";

    {
        let x = x.len();
        println!("The value of x in the inner scope is: {x}");
    }

    println!("The value ox x is: {x}");
}
