coach's Issues

Allow for time intervals along with / instead of events

Turns out I'm less interested in a moment when something happened, and more interested in a time during which a thing was happening. Org-mode has a [2017-04-10 Mon 15:16]--[2017-04-10 Mon 15:17] interval idiom, and right now you almost never use * <...> style timestamps, so you could maybe just scrap them for a different event syntax if you wanted to.

Observed use cases / what I really do with this stuff

After a year (!) here's how I use Coach

  • As a greppable database of miscellany
  • As a record of interesting historical events and conversations
  • For "hyper-local" TODO lists (generally when snowed under, or when I have a large volume of small tasks)
  • As a "what's happening now" current events log

I want

  • Some sort notion of "current"-ness for entries
  • Easy searching by half-remembered fragments
  • The ability to edit entries, as the associated facts change
  • But dates are a nice-to-have, too

The database of stuff is small (small enough that just grepping through a pile of files has worked just fine up until now) but is sort of precious, it'd be a bummer to lose it.
