Cannot add or edit preferences on the website

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Trying to edit a current preference or trying to add a new preference does
not work.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Instead of adding/editing the preference, it says:

2 errors prohibited this preference from being saved
There were problems with the following fields:
    * Title is missing or invalid
    * Bundle is missing or invalid

I've tried entering all kinds of different values for those fields and
nothing works.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The website, Minefield browser (Firefox)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. go to main web site http://secrets.textdriven.com/
2. click the "Add A Secret" button http://secrets.textdriven.com/preferences/new
3. become confused as to what to enter

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

kinds of prefs you can create,

wrong tooltips on lower-left and lower-right buttons

Mouse-over the buttons in the lower-left and lower-right. The tooltip (is
that what its called?) that pops up for either of those buttons says
"Delete Trigger"

I'm guessing that since the icons are different, they have different
functions, and therefore should be labeled differently.

This refers to Secrets 1.0b14 on OS X 10.5.2

Description is a bit too short

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Enter a new secret
2. Type or paste in a description of what it does
3. View the final result

I would expect to see the text I entered. Alas, it seems to be truncated to
255 characters. It would
be nice to have a larger limit (maybe 511 chars) and also indicate when
entering that it's getting too
big.

documentation?

There is no documentation whatsoever for this prefpane, at least as far as
I can tell.

A simple 'About' page (or FAQ, or help page, or...) on the website would
fix this. I'd recommend including a brief description of this prefpane and
how to install it. Perhaps also a note about how this shouldn't really be
used by beginners.

Add iTerm Defaults

There are a few settings that you cannot access via iTerm's own Preferences
panel. However, you
can use 'defaults" command to change them to your taste. The available settins
along with the
default settings are:
defaults write iTerm UseUnevenTabs -bool false
defaults write iTerm MinTabWidth -int 75
defaults write iTerm MinCompactTabWidth -int 60
defaults write iTerm OptimumTabWidth -int 175

defaults write iTerm StrokeWidth -float 0
defaults write iTerm BoldStrokeWidth -float -2

defaults write iTerm CacheSize -float 2048
defaults write iTerm SearchCommand -string "http://google.com/search?q=%@"
The first four are for setting the tab size. And the next 2 are for setting the
stroke width of fonts
rendering. The numbers in the example are all default settings. Experiment with
different
numbers. For example, to enable antialias for very small fonts, type these
commands:
defaults write iTerm StrokeWidth -float -1
The CacheSize is the number of characters that are cached for rendering.
Increase it when you
use a lot of different colors and a large character set. The last one is for
the search command
launched from the contextual menu. The default is to use google. You can set it
to anything you
want. For example, if you like yahoo, here is the command:
defaults write iTerm SearchCommand -string "http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%@"

"keypath" does not work

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. make a new rule specifying a pref that is a key path
2. add path to key field, eg: "preferences/code" ("preferences" being the key
of a main level
dictionary, and code being the key of the value inside the "preferences"
dictionary)
3. check the "Keypath" checkbox
4. try to use it

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected: that it works
seen: it does not treat the keypath as a path, it adds a new key using the
entire string at the root
level

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
latest latest

Please provide any additional information below.

Snapshot repository path (and other paths) - cannot see whole path in pref pane

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. view any setting with a path. If path is long, static path bar cannot be
read due to elision
2. see attached png, you cannot see the components of the path
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I'd like to see either a
live Path Bar (is that
the right name?) where hovering over a component expands it out fully, or
preferably, see the
tooltip contain the path rather than the help string.

Fixed minimum font size

The title and description is a little confusing. It should really be
"minimum fixed font size". Not only is this more clear to people, it also
reflects the option being set: "com.apple.Safari WebKitMinimumFixedFontSize".

Original issue reported on code.google.com by mathuaerknedam on 3 Mar 2008 at 7:05

entry of floating point numbers does not observe locale

When setting the locale to German, then fractional numbers use "," instead of
"." as the decimal
point separator.

When such a fractional number is shown, e.g. for System Preference's "Window
and Sheet animation
time", the locale _is_ observed, i.e. it shows "0,1". However, when one tries
to edit the value, one
needs to enter a US-locale number, using the "." as the separator, to make it
accepted.

To fix this, the entering of a floating point number should use the same locale
that the showing of
such numbers uses.

Finder "Prohibit" settings use wrong default

See this setting:

http://secrets.textdriven.com/preferences/edit/98

The default of this and similar ones (all titles beginning with "Prohibit")
appear to use the wrong
default.

I have checked that non of these keys are in my user's com.apple.finder.plist,
and I also can use
these options (such as Eject) in the Finder, yet this setting defaults to YES,
meaning that I'd have
these prohibitions enabled.

To fix, I suggest altering the defaults to NO

Enable Web Inspector

I believe the Web inspector can be enabled for any app that uses Webkit.
I've used it for Adium and Colloquy. That said, I'm not aware of a global
preference for this, so it's probably something that simply need to have a
separate item for each Webkit app. :(

Front Row should be terminated when a preference is set

The Front Row process is still running, even when Front Row is exited (with the
esc key). So when a
preference is set for Front Row, it is not read until Front Row is restarted.
The solution is to
terminate the Front Row process when Secrets write the preference.

A patch is attached. Maybe it could also be used for the Dock and the Finder?

Xcode build success/failure sound paths not working

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. select Xcode in Secrets, then select an aiff (e.g. from ~/Library/Sounds),
right click and get POSIX path, paste to Secrets build success or
failure text field (I used Temple.aiff)
2. ditto HFS path (I used Uh oh.aiff which I believe originated in OS 9. In any
case, Quicklook makes the sound)
3. start Xcode, build a project, either successfully or insert a source code
error

Variations I tried: double-quote path, \ quote spaces in path (e.g. Macintosh\
HD:). Haven't read source, do you evaluate path using a
shell? Press Return or not press return in text field. Also, quit System
Preferences/not quit before starting Xcode. In all cases I quit Xcode
before editing in Secrets. Did not log out/in.

What is the expected output? Wanted to hear a beep (in Quicklook I could hear
sound from same aiff) on success or failure of build.

What do you see instead? Normal build or fail, as though I had not set up in
Secrets.

OTHER NOTE: after restarting System Preferences, these fields were empty, even
though I had quit SP with paths in the fields.. I note that
Indent on paste was correctly remembered between launches, and permissions:

bayesMacBook: ls -l com.apple.Xcode.plist
-rw------- 1 bayes bayes 38729 Mar 3 08:54 com.apple.Xcode.plist

so I don't thinks it's a permissions problem, though I didn't grovel through
the plist to see if/where the build sound preferences were
stored.

Is there any way to contact the developer if I have a problem? WTF?

There needs to be some indication for average users to set the pref back to
system defaults.

Can't exit update-alert window

When the window comes up asking if you want to update to the latest version, at
first it responds,
allowing you to open your browser to the secrets.textdriven.com page. Then it
becomes
unresponsive requiring a force quit of system preferences. It doesn't matter
which button you click,
you cannot dismiss the box.
