Hello,
I think the SplitFlap display is great. I've already built several for friends and relatives. Most of them just use the clock. Now I have someone who doesn't have WiFi at home.
Couldn't the electronics be expanded to include a DCF radio module or a battery-buffered timer?
Best wishes
Jörg
Would love to dive into this project but wanted to check to see if it's possible to make it compatible with Home Assistant? Maybe Split-Flap can receive messages on MQTT protocol? Or have a version of this firmware running on ESPHome?
The use case is that with Home Assistant it makes it REALLY easy to automate this for messages, notifications, sensor information etc.
I'm having an issue with the ESP8266 actually controlling the unit. The unit is working correctly via test mode and I can access the UI on the ESP just fine. When I hook up a serial debugger to the ESP here is what i'm seeing in the output.
I have UNITS_AMOUNT set to 2 as that's all I have built and connected for testing.
Try to wake up unit
A unit in the display is sleeping
Waiting for a display to stop

ESPMaster will not compile due to error with LinkedList I have installed the linked list from the library manger. https://github.com/ivanseidel/LinkedList That did not seem to help. Please advise.
