A web service for synchronizing Exchange Online contacts from web sources.

Project description

The Exchange Online Contact Synchronizer (EOCS) is a service for synchronizing contacts from a web API into your own Microsoft Outlook contacts. The following features are planned:

• Authentication with the Microsoft Identity Platform
• Continuous synchronization of contacts from one data source (Web API)
• Provision of multiple data sources
• Personal setup of the synchronization by the user
• Web UI for configuring and setting up personal synchronization
• Admin panel for configuration of the service

One possible application scenario is the synchronization of customers or vendors from Dynmaics 365 Business Central into your own Outlook contacts. For example, the customer name can be displayed when a Microsoft Teams call is received from the customer.

Add XUnit test project for the UI project

Create and set up an XUnit Unittest project, with the link to the UI project.

Initialization of an admin page that is displayed only to users with a defined role.

The UI should be prepared to support a localized user interface

Add Sync orchestration with multiple virtual activities as interface

Adding the orchestration for synchronization of contacts from a data source (for each user) with the monitoring and human interaction pattern. The necessary activities should simply be added as interfaces.

Structure:

Init the backend service for the contact synchronization

An ASP.NET Web API or Azure Function project should be initialized as a service for continuous synchronization of contacts per user.

Adding sessions to the user interface and using saved objects

In order for the data of the user portal form to remain available after submission, the associated object should exist in a session and be saved with the current values.

Create User portal page

The UI application should provide a user portal page with the following formular input fields:

• Dynamic Checkboxes for all data sources from a syncSource model
• Submit button

The form should only be provisionally implemented with a static demo model for available synchronization sources (szncSource model).

Add configuration and logger pattern

In order to provide configurations and loggers, these should be implemented sensibly with DI and meaningful patterns.

Complete the privacy page

Add necessary information to the privacy page.

Setting up the authentication with Microsoft Identity Platform

The user interface should be authenticated with the MIP and implement a token handler, for validate and process access tokens.

Init the user portal for setting up the synchronization

General initialization of the user portal with first demo experience

Setting up the service authorization with the Microsoft Identity Platform

Only authenticated requests with a specific scope should be able to access the service. Also, the service must authorize a user as admin if the token has the correct scope.

Revision of the layout of all pages and optional adaptation of the CSS design.
