jquery.org's Issues

the search input field gets too narrow on small screens

narrowSearch
to reproduce, either access jquery.org with a mobile device, or use a desktop browser and reduce the browser screen width. Very quickly the search input field becomes so narrow that it is unusable. However, there is room to have it wider...
the width is set to 20% :

nav#main .searchform {
width: 20%;
}

however, when the search input field is on a small screen and comes on its own line, it could afford a wider width than that...

Add Flattr for micro donations

It would be nice if you could integrate flattr.com for donations, as my company supports Open Source projects via flattr. I am sure there are others who are using this, too

Revisit History Page

We're thinking about turning the History page into brief written history with highlights rather than a list of releases.

Should IBM have a link as part of their description?

Currently, on https://jquery.org/members/ all corporate members have a link as part of their description, except for IBM. IBM is also the only one that doesn't start with its name (hence I guess the no link). I was wondering whether at the start of the second sentence (IBM is committed...) we could make that IBM a link to ibm.com? Just a thought. Feel free to close if you think this is not an issue.

Top Nav Cleanup

I would like to start a discussion about reorganizing the top navigation of this site. It feels quite cluttered and could probably be better organized. Also, important items like a link to our Mission/Vision or our bylaws only appear in body copy which I think needs to be addressed.

Update the Project Join page

https://github.com/jquery/jquery.org/blob/master/pages/projects/join.html

This page is too wordy and spread out to provide a quick overview. Trimming it down would make it easier to read. There may be a few FAQ-level questions we need to add here as well, for example, "Do we have to move the project into the jQuery org?" (No). Most project recruitment discussions will end up being one-on-one with the project leaders so this page does not need to go into minute operational detail.

Show Team members geographically

Once we have this information gathered from the team in a reasonable way - perhaps either using the CAA data, or accounts on jQuery.com - a map view of where all the team is distributed would be really awesome. This is @agcolom's idea 👍

Add information about the standard team

From a few weeks we have created a standard team which includes Leo, Oleg, myself, and others. Should we document it in the team page (as we do now for content, mobile, ui, and so on)?

Translating jQuery

Hi, is there any chance to translate jQuery's website or the library to different languages? Just an idea. Thanks!

Update logos on about page

QUnit logo is in dropbox:

  • Foundation/Brand/jQuery_identity/Qunit.ai
  • Foundation/Brand/jQuery_identity/png/Qunit.png
  • Foundation/Brand/jQuery_identity/png/Qunit_Small.png

From qunitjs/qunit#222 (comment)

Should also get the jQuery Mobile logo on there, once its done.

Erros in Firebug consol

Adopt an Organization wide Code of Conduct

CC Everyone involved with jQuery

I think we need to publish a Code of Conduct to cover all events and online spaces we moderate (IRC, github, etc). I think we should have the board, and the teams in full agreement on this CoC, and "vote" on it just like we would anything else.

I think we should start with some minor modifications to the Django CoC https://www.djangoproject.com/conduct/ (please read, click on each of the sidebar links too, all of the pages are a part of the CoC). The Django policies are already modified to apply to online spaces and events, as well as have some great rules for editing/approving changes in place.

Unless anyone has big objections today or tomorrow, I'll get a PR made for bringing this content over from Django, and open it up for further refinement.

Need pages for web-base-template footer links

We need jquery.org index pages for the various forums, api sites, and twitter accounts. Learning Center can go to the one learn site, and irc can go to irc.jquery.com (which is already an index page for our various irc channels)

Team page: mobile view broken

Hi there.
Today I've noted that the mobile view of the jQuery Team page is broken as shown by the images below:

issue-1

And

issue-2

I'd like to take care of this issue if everyone is fine with that.

Show loading status after Stripe popup closed

When I joined there was a few seconds delay between the Stripe popup closing and being redirected to /join/thanks/. Either keep the popup open until ready to redirect (it has a loading indicator) or show something on the page that it is loading. The browser's loading indicator alone is not enough.

Might not be much of an actual issue, but also wouldn't want people to close the tab before its actually done submitting, just because the popup closed.

licensing clarification

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but the text is on the website...

As you might be aware, traditionally the MIT license requires that you include a copy of the license text when redistributing software.

But the license header in jQuery files link to http://jquery.org/license, which says (emphasis mine):

You are free to use a jQuery project in _commercial projects_ as long as the copyright header is left intact.

The word "commercial" in the free software world isn't well defined. This could be interpreted as permitting nonfree software to get away with just having the license header shipped with jQuery, but still requiring free software to include a copy of the MIT. :-(

Would you consider changing it something to like:

You are free to use a jQuery project in any project (even commercial ones) as long as the copyright header is left intact.

That way it's clear this is okay for everyone.

Thanks!

Upgrade wordpress

It looks like your running an old and vulnerable version of Wordpress CMS (4.5.2), the latest version of Wordpress is 4.8.

I have heard of a remote command execution exploit for 4.5.2 being used in the wild that can be used to upload php files to the web server unauthenticated.

Link to brand guide triggers invalid certificate error

The jquery.org site (e.g. http://jquery.org/donate/) has a link to the HTTPS version of the brand guide.

However the brand.jquery.org virtual host responds by using the jquery.org certificate which is invalid for brand.jquery.org.

We should either get a *.jquery.org certificate or brand.jquery.org certificate and use that. Or fix all links to go via http (and maybe also turn off https for that domain, though we may want to allow people to manually go to https if they want but with self-signed certificate or something).
