Hi, when trying out the cookbook I received the error "No such file or directory - svn".
You could either install the subversion package in hhvm::_source_common_glog, or add a comment in the readme or use the subversion cookbook.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 hhvm : Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.9.0) but 4.7.2-5 is to be installed
        Depends: gcc-4.9-base but it is not installable

I wish I could send you a PR, but haven't found why it requires gcc 4.9 for the package, and no idea how to fix it.

google-glog is compiled on debian and installed on ubuntu 13.10, but it's missing on ubuntu 12.04

therefore installing from source fails

btw, it also fails with default version of gcc installed on 12.04 (4.6, while it needs at least 4.7).

I think we need service provider that can start, restart, stop, hhvm fastcgi service.

The latest release of HHVM 3.0.1 requires additional libraries from several libboost packages, that are not present in the default apt repos of Ubuntu 12.04.

I get the following errors trying to install:

The solution according to the HHVM install instructions is to install a PPA:
ppa:mapnik/boost

It looks like commit 4cd49b21164c10b324b4df55ebea8b9ad1dee603 broke platform detection for Ubuntu "13.10".to_i is 13.

Hello! http://dl.hhvm.com/ubuntu/dists/ contains 'trusty' and 'trusty-lts-3.3' so that you can install the latest or a LTS version of HHVM. Would you be open to my adding an attribute to this cookbook for that value, so that I might override it for my use case?

Because of the ['hhvm']['source']['dependencies']['debian'] attributes missing 7.5, 7.6 and 7.7. Maybe it should juste match on 7.

  hhvm requires g++ 4.8 or greater.

Not sure trying to install gcc 4.8 on Wheezy would be a good idea... maybe we should limit installation to the latest version that built with gcc 4.7, or just support Debian 8.
