we die if we choose our vip but the portal lets us play normally

The little void ticks from the new DLC can infect the VIP, turning them against you, it doesn't kill you right away but I assume when you kill them you then die. (Will have to test, probably)

Clients in a multiplayer game do not see the VIP tag above the monster, in fact an arrow showing they're an ally does not show up at all.

From what i've snooped through in the code, it seems like it's supposed to try to follow you?

From what I've played so far, it doesn't seem to follow you or at least places it at a very low priority. If anything, maybe have it try to path to the Teleporter directly, turn it into an Escort mission. (The VIP also contributes to Teleporter charge rate, so if in Singleplayer and they're not in the range, it'll charge at half the rate)

Currently, it just zero's everything.

Normally, you start the first stage with 15 gold, this mod makes it so it gets immediately turned into XP before starting the first stage.

For some reason, the selection part doesn't work after the first run, it'll just spawn the wicked Scavenger normally and the barrels don't work.
