Welcome to the ByteString/Fiat project!

The goal of this project is to use the Fiat program synthesis library for Coq to build a simple, mathematically correct specification for the Haskell ByteString library, and then refine this specification to a highly-optimized Haskell program that matches or exceeds what is available on Hackage today.

bytestring-fiat's Issues

Show that a Fiat client of bytestring can apply fusion directly

Resolve admits in the buffer_append refinements

Can we generate a version of the text library from the same specification?

After the shims are made, try linking warp against bytestring-fiat

Produce an alternate output library that tunes performance differently

For example, by pre-allocating by a certain amount.

Create shims for the extracted code that reference actual bytestring

This way, instead of having to implement everything all at once, we can give a warning that "method foo is not yet implemented", and then transparently refer to the real ByteString library to provide the behavior, by way of mappings between our representation and theirs.

Tighten performance numbers for methods mentioned in our paper

Make use of the fixed point logic to create a fold method

Update README to indicate all necessary dependencies
