At the moment, when you indent for a sub-list and then go back to the original list and call addItem it automatically continues (adds the item to) the sub-list instead of looking at the current line indentation to determine which list should be continued.

This is most likely something that can be accomplished most easily by checking the current line's indentation and then searching above for a list that shares the same indentation (until it gets to a blank line, or the top of the document).

When you hit, for instance, 5o to open 5 lines under your current line, the added lines aren't added to the list.

When you hit 1O you get significantly more than 1 line added above the current line and none of them are added to the list.

Allow items to look like so:

1. This is an example item that spans
   multiple lines, but is still a single item.
2. More
3. and more

And allow an enter afterwards to continue the list properly.

When you hit enter in insert mode in code that is indented (not in a list), the smart indent it overwritten and you are placed at column 1 on the new line.

Hook p and P to past lines in a list.

This is fairly self-explanatory, but the idea is to write a hook for dd, #d, and <>d that allows you to delete one or more lines in normal mode and automatically update the remaining list times. This can be simplified by using the reList function.
