keyboard-only build

Hello!
I'm currently doing a keyboard-only build (10 keys, no trackball, no rotary encoder), and I'm not quite sure how to finish my build, all the instructions to plug the ProMicro are related to the trackball sensor and the rotary encoder, so I don't know how I'm supposed to link mine to one of the expanders, I'm actually perplex as to whether or not I need the ProMicro at all, but I don't see how to plug the keyboard to the computer without it so I'm guessing it's necessary. Could you enlighten me?
Thanks!

how to flash

I'm really excited about this project, but I have no idea how to flash/customize the board after I assemble it. My only experience is with QMK (online configurator). I see all the code in the src folder, but I don't even know if I am supposed to use a local QMK build environment for that (not that I actually know how). Can anyone help me out, or at least point me in the right direction? This board is elite level, but I don't want to be scared of Chordie. Thanks so much!
