@boardaboo et al: Have you been able to install O3D since then?

Same with NVIDIA Quadro FX
IE8 Windows XP SP2.
Tried with Firefox 3.5.2; same error.
Google Chrome: the same. I guess this does not depend on the browser.

The priority probably should be bumped up. As seen from the posts above the
issue is
rather common and effectively prevents from using the software.

OK, Finally figured this out after looking into the O3D code. It requires
DirectX
and if it is not available the installer just fails.

Get DirectX from Microsoft before installation.

I installed DirectX to see if it would help but alas, it did not.

Based on my experience with missing DirectX and the fact that for others
installing
Direct X did no help I can guess that this error happens in every case when the
installers cannot find any required component. Would be much better of course
if the
installer displayed some more useful information in this case rather than just
simply
showing a general message.

Same problem; XP Pro SP3, installing with Admin privileges. I suspect some
directory
permissions issue...could the Google O3D team list where *all* files are meant
to be
installed so I can check permissions?
