I checked the changes you made to the names of species in Latin, English, and French that I had identified in the Excel spreadsheets I sent you last month (on June 19th and 25th). All the changes appear correctly on the relevant results pages and in the details pages, but they aren't being reflected in the listings under the filters for species, English name, and French name (see details below).
Tom
DETAILS
The changes to the Latin name of the identified species appear correctly on the relevant results pages and the details page for the species, but incorrectly in the alphabetic listing of species, thus:
• Ambrosia artemisiifoliaappears correctly on results pages (when searching under flower colour, leaf type, etc.), and on the details page for the species, but the listing under species still shows the uncorrected form Ambrosia artemisiiafolia. When selecting the species from that listing, the app indicates 0 results.
• Cichorium intybus appears correctly on results pages (when searching under flower colour, leaf type, etc.), and on the details page for the species, but the listing under species still shows the uncorrected form Chicorium intybus. When selecting the species from that listing, the app indicates 0 results.

When selecting the species from that listing, the app indicates 0 results.
The changes to the French name of the identified species appear correctly on the details page for the species, but incorrectly in the alphabetic listing of French names, thus:
• Pontédérie cordée appears correctly on the details page for the species (Pontederia cordata), but the listing under French name still shows the uncorrected form Pontédérie à feuilles en cœur. When selecting the species from that listing, the app indicates 0 results.
• Sceau-de-Salomon à deux fleurs appears correctly on the details page for the species (Polygonatum biflorum), but the listing under French name still shows the uncorrected form Sceau-de-Salomon biflora. When selecting the species from that listing, the app indicates 0 results.

Ensure a progress indicator is visible whenever a page is slower to load, informing the user that the app is working and the content is loading. (ie., spinning wheel, etc.)
All photos to be reviewed/re-optimized as required to ensure acceptable download speeds for Gatineau Park while maintaining sufficient quality to zoom in on photo details.
When browsing through the app recently I noticed that the second photo for the species Iris versicolor (Harlequin blue flag) is actually a photo of Rosa acicularis (Prickly rose). The mistake was mine. In June 2021 I noticed that the two photos had the same ID number, (P7030365), so I renumbered the photo of the prickly rose as P703036X. But when I sent you the revised Excel spreadsheet, I mistakenly entered the P703036X photo ID number in the row for the Harlequin blue flag. So when the change was was made in the app, the photo for the prickly rose ended up in the record for the Harlequin blue flag.
To correct the error we need to link the attached photo identified as P7030365 to the record for the Iris versicolor (Harlequin blue flag) as the second photo for that species (replacing the photo of prickly rose identified as P703036X), and link the attached photo of prickly rose identified as P703036X to the record for Rosa acicularis (replacing the photo that had previously been identified as P7030365 attached to that record as the first photo).
I have also attached a revised copy of the Excel spreadsheet showing those corrections (highlighted in blue) in rows 27 and 284, respectively.

Review updates with Ken. Discuss use of word 'Any'. Apply updates to app as outlined in attached Word file:
Change the zoom/pan feature so that it always expands and contracts equally on all sides from centre of photo, regardless of where the photo is tapped or pinched. See Kijiji app for an example of this behaviour.

Tom's e-mail:
As I was searching some reference sources recently trying to identify a plant that Gwynneth and I had seen last month on one of the trails near Wakefield, I came across an image that I recognized as a species I had identified incorrectly as Epigaea repens (Trailing arbutus) but which is actually Mitchella repens (Partridgeberry), a species we hadn't yet included in our repertoire.
I'm attaching an updated copy of the GPW dataset Excel spreadsheet with a correction at row 170 and a new species added at row 292 (both highlighted in violet).
The correction at row 170 indicates that the second photo (P7120379) and the trailhead, trail, and date associated with that photo should be removed from that record.
The addition at row 292 indicates that a new record needs to be created for Mitchella repens and the photo and associated data removed from row 170 (P7120379) should be moved to the new record, along with an additional photo (P7120380) and its associated data.
I'm attaching another copy of P7120379 as well as P7120380.
Change "PhotoZoomPan" to "Photo"
I'm continuing to explore the app and just found the "plant" at Symphyotrichum novae-angliae: "Andrea made be do this HAH" . Do I win a prize?
Ability to enlarge photos so user can see flower details
On details page, add "Notes" as last line item of a record (replacing "# of photos" line), to allow for additional details to be added to various records where applicable.
The CLEAN DATA spreadsheet (EN & FR tabs) has been updated with Tom's most recent changes, and now need to be applied. The Excel filename is GPW dataset_2_06JUL2021.xlsx,
Finalize text and make text and alignment same size on all 3 pages (EN and FR)
All "portrait" photos have 2 versions: the original portrait photo + cropped photo cropped to match the dimensions of the landscape photos (all "landscape" photos have 1 version only). The intent of this issue is to implement the "_port" version of the photo whenever the user selects a photo in the Details page that has a portrait version. This is to ensure that the user can view the entire photo to help with identification, etc.
Tom's notes: When I first put together a compilation of the photographs in classified order several years ago, I titled it Wildflowers in Gatineau Park / Fleurs sauvages dans le parc de la Gatineau. After the testing period, and in consultation with the Friends, we may want to revert to that title. That would of course entail a redesign of the Home Screen.
Impact of change: User Guide and Home Screen of app
Currently, to clear all entries without manually reverting each one to "Any" requires returning to Home Page, then going back to Search Page. Research the feasibility of adding a "Clear All" button to Search Page.
Third photo details have been added to CLEAN DATA spreadsheet called GPW dataset_2_06JUL2021.xlsx. Tom believes these photos were already supplied in his original submission, in which case they are already optimized in Photoshop and ready to go. Next steps are to update the records and photos to the app and confirm that the photos are indeed available.
Updated french names list as attached:
Name_FR_AlphaOrder.txt
If the display of results sets could be programmed to sort the listings alphabetically by species name, that would enable the user to see more quickly species in the results set that are in the same and may need to be compared with the species they are trying to identify.
Currently the last line on the details page indicates # of photos. Goal is to find an alternative way to indicate that there are additional photos so that this last line can be removed. See Kijiji for one example of how this is handled.
Tom's feedback:
Row 30 (Erythronium americanum): the apostrophe in the French name shows as a non-printing character on the details page. It displays correctly in the pick list of French names, but if you choose that name there are 0 results. There are two other instances of this problem noted below at rows 61 and 129, but apart from those all other occurrences of d' in French names display correctly on the details pages.
Row 61 (Viburnum lantanoides): the apostrophe in the French name shows as a non-printing character on the details page. It displays correctly in the pick list of French names, but if you choose that name there are 0 results.
Row 129 (Tussilago farfara): the apostrophe in the French name shows as a non-printing character on the details page. It displays correctly in the pick list of French names, but if you choose that name there are 0 results.
Row 158 (Dianthus armeria): the diphthong OE at the beginning of the French name shows as a non-printing character on the details page. It displays correctly in the pick list of French names, but if you choose that name there are 0 results.
Tom's note:
Good news. I just did a test merger of the file of primary photos with the file of supplementary photos and found that the only instance of conflicting ID numbers was the pair that I had stumbled on randomly while testing the app. So we can correct the problem simply by renaming the supplementary photo of the Iris versicolor as P703036X, leaving the primary photo of the Rosa acicularis as P7030365. Can you make that change at your end, or do you want me to send you a copy of the renamed photo?
