- Why are you running this through sudo? You shouldn't need root to run qemu.
- You need to use
-vga stdand probably also provide more RAM to the VM than the default with-m 1024or similar. - I question your use of the production image generator, which isn't meant for use with QEMU; It's what I use to build images for use with VirtualBox. It's also entirely undocumented.
