mathraces's Introduction

Hi, I'm KT421

I'm a data analyst, I work primarily in R, and most of my projects are proprietary on our internal bitbucket. This profile contains only my schoolwork and side projects.

I turn data into actionable insights, and create automations that smooth out error-prone and tedious manual processes. I've taken a couple of data science courses (see other repos here on GitHub) but my educational background is in Linguistics (BA) and Instructional Design (MEd). My focus areas are:

  • using data to understand people,
  • understanding how people use data, and
  • building people's understanding of data.

I'm gainfully employed and not entertaining offers at this time.

mathraces's Issues

Better UI for operand selection

The sliders work for small operand ranges and come with build in validation that they don't exceed certain norms, but quickly becomes difficult to use as ranges get larger. Having the user type in numbers would allow much more flexibility, but would require robust validation of inputs.

No input validations

Need input validations for:

  • at least one operation selected
  • if subtraction and negatives disallowed, check that valid combinations of operands are possible

Better problem validation

Currently for subtraction or division where we must validate the problem, I simply regenerate the problem until it is valid in a while() loop. Perhaps think of a way to generate problems so they are valid in the first place.

Selectable number of problems

Right now it generates 20 problems that fit on one page when printed. Allow for more, but smaller font? Will need to be a set of presets, not an open field.

User Documentation

There's currently no in-app documentation or link back to this github repo. Write something.
