Hello, and thanks for the question. I believe this was also asked and answered on our #virtualization slack channel, so I will close this issue.
If anyone in the future is curious, the answer on slack was "The qemu processes coordinate between the source and target pods to ensure there is no writing at the same time."

Another part of the truth is: While qemu coordinates the access between the qemu instances - a completely different pod could still attach this PV and cause data corruption.
