phy-doc's Issues

Refactor to reflect website structure

We should have:

/index.html # nice phy homepage
/index.css # nice phy global CSS
/doc/index.md # homepage for the doc (currently readme.md)
/doc/***.md # other markdown doc files
/doc/doc-style.css # documentation/markdown-specific CSS
/doc/gen.php # doc generation script
/install/linux/latest.sh
/install/mac/latest.sh
/install/windows/latest.bat

Untracked on git:

/doc/api/***.md # autogenerated
/install/unix-latest.tar.gz
/install/windows/latest.exe (autobuild)

installing stalled

I am trying to install phy on Window 7, using the instructions provided. I installed POwerShell and I have the version (up to date) of C++ already installed.

The installation in the PowerShell window stops right after I start (image)

Various remarks on the quick start guide

  • maybe remove This will install miniconda (a lightweight scientific Python distribution) and phy in your $HOME/miniconda by default (normally /home/username/miniconda on Linux/Mac OS X, and C:\Users\Username\miniconda\ on Windows). and duplicate it 3 times for the 3 OSes, with the appropriate instructions
  • to be more newbie-friendly I'd also add "open a terminal and copy-paste the following command". A dumb Windows user might not understand they need to do that

Remote access

It would be helpful to have some documentation on running phy in remote-accessible notebook. I saw you guys demo it at SfN, but I can't get it to work. Running it remotely with jupyter, kernel crashes when I start qt. Thanks!

from phy.io import KwikModel Gives Error

Hi I think that in the newer version taking data out of the kwik file doesn't work the same way.
I'll be happy to know how

Error: from phy.io import KwikModel
ImportError: cannot import name 'KwikModel'
