What should the API look like? This is my placeholder ticket to throw comments and note possibilities for the future.

Should be simple, but I should do it.

Instead of bluebird (which is great, but ultimately not the direction to go). Also need to figure out the best way to handle only loading the polyfill on browsers that don't support native promises (which might revolve around two builds and a check).
