OpenGovSalary

Open Government Products (OGP) maintains a list of their products and the corresponding operational costs involved. These costs include manpower costs, alongside a detailed breakdown of the contribution of each member.

This is great demonstration of transparency that I would like to commend. Interestingly, this information is enough to form a system of linear equations in terms of each OGP employee's salary. Should we find a good solution to this system of linear equations, we can approximate the salary of each employee.

Set-up

You will need an installation of python3 with venv.

⚠️ Disclaimer

Doing a cursory look through the output, there do seem to be some inaccuracies (e.g. a senior engineer with a much lower compensation than others). Given that the senior engineer has much lower compensation than expected, it's likely that the other salaries are higher than the true amount. Therefore, please only think of this project as a proof-of-concept meant to explore the idea of uncovering the salaries, but not results you can fully trust.

opengovsalary's Issues

In-accurate linear algebra.

The linear algebra is not accurate. Taking

as example,

You should not just consider PM + 3 ENG + 1 D + 1 OPS + 1/3 POL. This is because each of the function members have different titles. You should get a more granular title of each individuals from https://www.open.gov.sg/about-us/eng, for instance, Software Engineer vs Senior Software Engineer vs Lead Software Engineer.

To get more accurate result, you have to:

1. Solve linear algebra for each role
2. Given loop through all employees in https://www.open.gov.sg/about-us/ and assign the salary solved in (1) to every individuals.
