Hi! I read "None of the existing live operating systems provide a kernel update feature" and similar in various places in this Git repo. That's incorrect: Tails' upgrade system does upgrade the kernel, initrd and bootloader bits: https://tails.boum.org/contribute/design/incremental_upgrades/

Granted, this claim is weakened with the additional "maintaining a ISO9660 filesystem" clause in at least one place, which makes it correct there, since an upgradeable Tails system partition is FAT, not ISO9660 (BTW I'm not sure about "which is the best option for a live" but that's another topic :)

It looks like the standard GRUB bios tarball is generated from internal software.

It would be useful to have the generation process/environment documented as packages may change over time, and previously documented instructions for liveng with grub may stop working as newer versions are adopted by distros.
