badge-printer's Introduction

Master Control Program

This system is used to secure spaces with an electronic door latch.

Dependencies:

Hardware requirements:

  • Server protocol RS-485 for the server/client communication.
  • Arduino Nano for the door client (This is required for the matching footprint).
  • NFC reader. This is the one that we are using for our version of the door lock.

badge-printer's Issues

Going through the print dialog every time is tedious

Going through the print dialog every time is tedious. It would be much simpler if hitting "print and log" would just immediately print to the appropriate printer. It would save a lot of time when needing to print a lot of nametags quickly. Printer settings could be saved on a per-template basis. They shouldn't need to be changed often, if ever.

Templates print at different size when using badge-printer

I set this up on my home computer to test the new label printer, and I noticed that if I print from the application the result is much smaller (larger margins?) than when I print directly from Inkscape. I wonder if this is related to the issues with the badge printer not printing properly.

Always Fails On First Print Attempt

Message pops up:

Failed to load the requested file archive/badges/Testy_McTestface.svg

Seems like the file doesn't exist yet. After closing the error dialog the next print attempt is successful.
