Another algorithm that could be used for beeswarm plots is the one originally described in Dot Plots by Leland Wilkinson. @asinghvi17 and I found an initial sketch started by @jkrumbiegel in MakieOrg/Makie.jl#1950 (comment)

Starting to explore this implementation a bit further with commit 4a96193 and see how it also works for layouting of a swarm plot.

This is basically a limit on how far out in x one can go. Gutter width would be a property of the recipe, and implemented after the calculate! method returns.

Looks like markers which are a hair far away from the halfway point are not getting moved. See the following image:

This is purely an execution order issue - since the data limits are determined before the Scene's projection view. Have to look into this and see what can be done.

With all this handling, maybe we should move the category code into the recipe? But then there would be no control from the algorithm's end.

Would be nice to allow for some padding on top of markersize here, but I'm not sure how it would work with markersize semantics.

This is because the dataspace coordinates change on limit change, which causes a change in limits.

We could define tightlimits or so but I don't think it would change the fundamental issue - something has to cycle back to the axis/scene.
