A simple capacitive-touch MIDI controller project for the Seeed XIAO ESP32S3.
- Board: Seeed XIAO ESP32S3
- Capacitive touch inputs: GPIO 5, 6, 7, 8
- Each touch input currently sends a simple note event when activated
Connect your touch pads, foil, or conductive surfaces to these GPIO pins:
- GPIO 5 -> button 1
- GPIO 6 -> button 2
- GPIO 7 -> button 3
- GPIO 8 -> button 4
You can also connect the touch pads through a resistor or other simple capacitive sensor setup. The firmware uses the ESP32 touch sensing API and calibrates a baseline on startup.
This project uses PlatformIO with the Arduino framework.
From the project folder:
pio run --target uploadTo see debug output from the board:
pio device monitorSet the baud rate to 115200.
- The current firmware prints debug information over Serial so you can confirm that touches are being detected.
- The touch thresholds are calibrated automatically at startup.
- If you want, you can later remap the buttons to different MIDI notes, channels, or velocity values.
