bl.ocks.org's Issues

How does the extension work? [ui]

ummm. How does one use the extension after it's installed?

In Firefox (windows) I don't see any new toolbar buttons or right-click context menu entries. Tools >> Add-ons >> Bl.ocks doesn't have any usage info either.

Extension does not appear if the username contains a hyphen.

Hello, I installed this extension in Google Chrome but I have some problem.

If I go to https://gist.github.com/mbostock/963c4d246e96963856bf I can see the button "bl.ocks" at the right of the "Download ZIP" button but if I go to https://gist.github.com/alessandro-gentilini/c07039f3d5dea29f767c the button "bl.ocks" is not there.

What am I missing? Do I need to be "registered" on http://bl.ocks.org/ in order to use it?

Thank you.

bl.ocks.org now redirects to gist.github.org

Hello, it appears that bl.ocks.org no longer is operational, and redirects to the linked gist on gist.github.org instead of displaying it in bl.ocks.org. Is this intentional, or is this due to an error?
Thanks,
Cooper

Broken Firefox link

Hi there!

I was trying to get the FF extension, but it seems like the link is broken.

Am I derping, or can we correct that?

Support .blocks config file.

If there’s .blocks config file in the gist, we could allow you to customize the display. For example, change the height from the default 500px to something else, or to enable scrolling on the iframe.

GitLab port

A port to gitlab repositories would also be greatly appreciated

suggested copyedit to guide users toward successfully including a license

hello! in https://bl.ocks.org/-/about you write:

Customize the appearance of your Block by adding a .block YAML configuration. The following options are supported:

  • license - a supported SPDX license code

i might be dense, but i took this to mean:

.block.yaml
license - apache-2.0

after some trial and error and comparing with an existing block with a license i obviously figured out that the file extension was superfluous and that i should be using a colon as a separator, but a small change to the copy would make it a no brainer.

my suggestion:

Customize the appearance of your Block by adding a .block file which incorporates the YAML below:

*license - a supported SPDX license code
...

example:

license: gpl-3.0
height: 600
scrolling: yes
border: no

if the source for the page above is on GitHub somewhere that alluded me i'd be happy to open a PR for this small change.

thanks for all you do!
